A Tea Break

Hello everyone,
Oh! how quickly the month of October is speeding by and before we know it we will be getting ready for Christmas- I am already looking forward to decorating our home next month as it cheers me in the grey days of November. I don't do much fall decorating as I like to hang on to summer as long as I can and then when the garden cleanup is done I am already thinking Christmas so I do very little in the way of fall decorating unless you count fall bouquets and a few pumpkins.
However,I have always loved the Christmas season and over the years have collected a lot of decorations-the attic comes in handy! This year some of the rooms in our home have been redecorated in a way that doesn't suit the old way of decorating so in spite of the fact that last year when taking all that 'stuff' down I was saying to my husband that maybe this year I would do very little decorating to see how that worked he laughed at me! I guess he knows me too well because I have already checked out the Christmas books from the library and have dug out all my own books and magazines to pour over. So what about you are you already thinking about Christmas?
Anyway, today I have a comfy spot for you to have a cup of tea and relax for a bit. Once again I have changed the bay window area of our kitchen/dining room but as my Mom always says a change is as good as a rest!
So curl up for a bit and enjoy the fall garden and watch the birds coming and going at the bird feeder.
This little nook has crochet lace valences and old lace tablecloths used as curtains on either side.I am moving my outdoor plants indoors for the winter and the plant stand as well. I love the plant stand that came from Winner's(tjmaxx).
The pretty teacup and teapot came from there as well. The needlepoint pillow came from a little shop in Murray Harbour called Miss Elly's Genteel Gifts (love that name).

I do enjoy the geraniums in the house over the long winter months.
The quilt on the chaise was a gift from my girls-they knew I would love it!

Here are the recipes a couple of you asked for last week. We love them both!
Well, linger as long as you like it is a wet day so it is cozy here with the wood pellet stove going to take the chill out of the kitchen and I will get you more tea.

Today, I am joining Sandi for her lovely Tea Time Tuesday at Rose Chintz Cottage- see you there!

Thank you for visiting me

&

Enjoy your day!

Carolyn

Ciao, cara Carolyn!

Good morning Carolyn,
I love your cozy nook for a cup of tea. Love your curtains and topper as well as the coverlet on the chaise! I have been thinking about Christmas for a while because I love it so. I don't do much Fall decorating either. Summer is a season I always try to hold on to as long as possible and then to cheer myself up when it's over I start thinking about Christmas! Like you, I decorate and do some of my Christmas baking in November to help pass the dreary days. Your tea is lovely and thank you for joining me.

Blessings,
Sandi

What an elegant spot for a morning tea and snack break! I'd never want to leave it! Xmas thoughts are coming along -
I just ordered a feather tree to decorate and am beating the bushes for a traditional picket fence to go around it. Think I'll get lucky? and speaking of lucky, drop by and enter my giveaway on www.funkybabymine.blogspot.com where you can see my treasure trove of vintage linens and other delights.

Such a cosy post Carolyn! That chaise looks like a perfect spot to have some tea and read your Christmas library books! I'm sharing fall recipes at my blog today too - your scones look delicious. Roasted veggies are a favourite here too.

What a lovely place for a loooooooong rest. Well I just could use a little nap. The quilt is just great. I'm not thinking about Christmas at the moment but about spring *smile*. It's a bit early I know, but I'm already doing some crafts for a spring market. So Christmas can wait for me :o).
Take care and enjoy some long breaks in this beautiful chaise!

What a lovely place to lay and rest. And with a nice cup of tea.
Oh yes, Christmas is already round the corner. I'm a Christmas lover and would love to have even more decoration here (and beginning earlier too!) but I guess my DH would faint if I had more santa's or candles here, lol.
Hope you have a nice day.

Carolyn,
The chaise and bay window are absolutely dreamy! I can see myself whiling away the time with a good book or a cup of tea there. Heavenly.
I used to bring my geraniums in every winter. But now, with the cats liking to get into all the plants I bring in....
I think I will consider it, again though!
And yes, I am thinking about Christmas!

Dearest Carolyn,

That is a cozy place for tea! Still it's amazing how your bay window with lace valences does resemble our kitchen bay window with the hand crocheted curtains that I made... The same kind of window grids as well.
Oh, geraniums are such loyal plants! Yes, you are right of holding on to summer for as long as we can and than, we're head-over-heels pushed into the Christmas season! Time never seems to slow down...
Enjoy your tea with that lovely china! We got rain too yesterday, today is sunny again.

Hello Carolyn,

I try very hard not to think about Christmas just yet. I´d like to enjoy what´s left of autumn and Halloween. I too pull out my old magazines and read them all over, cover to cover.

We start Christmas decorating in the beginning of December at first. But, we don´t take it down ´til after the New Years.

Love your nook and the tour of the Island. Beautiful!

Have a nice day,
Sanna

Dear Carolyn,

Such a beautiful place to sit down with a book or magazine and enjoy a cup of tea. It looks so peaceful.

Like you I have tried to hold on to summer as long as possible. I still have some Zinnia's and Cosmea's from our garden in a vase on the mantelpiece to remind me. I haven't done much fall decorating either, but I bought my first Christmas balls and angels :-)!

Have you received the JDL magazine yet? I hope it will arrive soon. It's a lovely edition and one of my favourites.

Happy day & lieve groet, Madelief

If this isn't just the picture of domestic tranquility, I don't know what is! Such a lovely, lovely space! I used to love decorating the big house my family grew up in for Christmas. Now that we have a smaller home and tons of family over I tend to keep things very simple. But I look forward to seeing what you do with your beautiful rooms. I never get tired of seeing Christmas in books and magazines either!

This place to have a cup of hot tea is just a dream Carolyn.
For my part, I do not think of Christmas yet. Time is passing so quickly that I would like to slow it to do all I would like to do.
Do you celebrate Halloween in Canada ?
Have a nice rest of week.

Yes - I too am thinking of Christmas. I am even playing Christmas music - I know a little early but I love it. I'm using the excuse that I'm trying to teach my 2 year old the words to the songs before Christmas. I love your beautiful post...so relaxing to see as I sip my morning tea.

This is my first chance to visit for tea this week. I could curl up by that window for a nap right now but would love some tea too.
Thanks for posting the recipes, I'll be sure to try both.
So windy here yesterday and today but at least the sun is shining.

Oh that I could be there on that chaise overlooking all the beauty you have out your window *sigh* What a lovely spot you have created Carolyn.
I really do believe we are kindred. I know I have said that before, but it is so true. I skip the whole Fall thing and go straight for the Christmas cheer! I too am going through my Christmas books and magazines for inspiration for the season. It will be upon us before we know it.
I love how you captured the light streaming through the window and onto your beautiful chaise.
hugs to you...

Hello! What a lovely blog you have! I have wanted to visit Prince Edward Island since I saw Anne of Green Gables a long, long time ago. Ah, to dream! I love tea too, out here in California I have yearly (at least) tea parties at my home with my closest friends. I collect cream colored teapots. I was able to go to Victoria, BC and have tea at the Empress Hotel! I'll be back to visit your site :)
